YORK – Basic Bookkeeping (18th September 2012), 10:00am – 12:30pm, Priory Street Centre.  Aimed at treasurers, committee members and staff of small voluntary and community groups, this course will guide you through the basics of accounting records & systems.  This practical course will demonstrate what accounting records you need to keep, how to operate a petty cash system and how to reconcile you bank statements as well as looking at some of the other checks and financial systems you can put in place to help ensure the accuracy of your figures.  Download a Booking Form or Book Online (includes £1.25 booking fee).  For further information contact Vin Mc Dermott.

YORK – Basic Financial Planning (3rd October 2012), 10:00am – 12:30pm, Priory Street Centre.  Aimed at treasurers, committee members and staff of small voluntary and community groups, this course will provide an introduction to financial planning and its importance to all voluntary and community groups (regardless of size).  This practical course will demonstrate how to prepare simple budgets and cashflows for your group, explain the difference between direct costs and overhead, look at the type of finance reports you should be presenting at committee meetings, plus take a look at some of the wider issues around financial planning such as setting a target for reserves.  Download a Booking Form or Book Online (includes £1.25 booking fee).  For further information contact Vin Mc Dermott

YORK – Introduction to Charity Accounts & Annual Returns (23rd October 2012), 10:00am – 12:30pm, Priory Street Centre.  Aimed at treasurers, committee members and staff of small charitable organisations, this course will provide an introduction to the statutory requirements around annual accounts and returns.  The course will examine the type of accounts your group might need to prepare plus the current thresholds for independent examination and audit as well as explain some of the ‘accounting pricesses and terminology’ we use when preparing year end accounts (e.g. fixed assets, depreciation and accruals).  The course will also cover the regulatory requirements around submitting annual accounts and returns including a practical guide on how to do this ‘on line’ through the charity commission website.  Download a Booking Form or Book Online (includes £1.25 booking fee).  For further information contact Vin Mc Dermott
